All Claims Have Been Determined
The administration of the Restigouche Hospital Centre Class Action Settlement is now in its final stages as all claims have been determined. In accordance with the Court-approved Settlement Agreement, all determinations made by the Claims Administrator regarding eligibility and compensation levels are final and there is no right to seek reconsideration.
Update on Payment of Approved Claims
On January 15, 2026, a batch of cheques were mailed to approved Claimants at the address on file with the Claims Administrator. Please allow sufficient time for the mail to reach your location before inquiring about a missing payment.
A final batch of cheques is scheduled to be mailed in late February 2026 to all remaining approved Claimants. If you are an approved Claimant who did not receive payment in the September 2025 or January 2026 mailing, your payment could be scheduled for the final February 2026 mailing. No further action is required on your part.
IMPORTANT: 6-Month Cheque Cashing Deadline
All compensation cheques must be cashed within six (6) months of the date of issue. Failure to cash your cheque within six (6) months of the date of issue will result in the forfeiture of your right to compensation and the funds will be returned to the Settlement Fund.

There was a class action lawsuit regarding the Restigouche Hospital Centre ("RHC") located in Campbellton, New Brunswick. A settlement was reached between the Plaintiffs and the Defendants in this proceeding (the “Settlement”). The Settlement was approved by the Court on October 26, 2023. The period to file a claim closed on October 26, 2024.
The Settlement provides a fund of $17 million for compensating Class Members which includes all persons who were admitted or resided at the Restigouche Hospital Centre ("RHC") in Campbellton, New Brunswick, at any time Between May 24, 2004 and October 1, 2021, and all persons who resided at the RHC at any time between January 1, 1954 and October 1, 2021 and claim they were sexually assaulted. If you did not make a claim before the deadline, you will not get any money.
